Diana and a nymph sleep, with a satyr looming over them. Mezzotint in reverse of an etching published in Jean de Jullienne's posthumous edition of prints after Watteau's drawings, traditionally known as the 'Recueil Jullienne'. Jullienne was one of the leading French amateurs and collectors of the eighteenth century and in assembling prints reproducing Watteau's drawings he did much to spread the artist's reputation outside France. Ex: collection of the Late Hon. C. Lennox-Boyd.

George II (1683-1760), king of Great Britain and Ireland whose reign saw the Jacobite threat reduced to nothing, the Hanoverian succession securely established, and his country transformed into a great world power. Fine and rare mezzotint after the 1744 full-length portrait by Thomas Hudson, now in the National Portrait Gallery. O'D 24; CS 9.

A group portait in a garden, with: George (later George III) firing an arrow at a popinjay; Edward (Duke of York & Albany), holding a gun; and William Henry (Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh), still in skirts, holding a garland of flowers. Dupan's original painting also included Princess Augusta, Prince Henry and Princess Elizabeth but they were separated for another print (see ref 67128). Not in CS; Russell 8a.
