A half-length portrait of the penitent Mary Magdalen, looking upwards, her hands folded in prayer. Mezzotinted by Prince Rupert of the Rhine (1619-82), grandson of James I and a Royalist cavalry commander during the English Civil War, one of the earliest 17th century mezzotinters.
