The estate of Sir Francis Henry Goldsmid (1808-78), 2nd Baronet. Goldsmid, a Jewish banker and M.P., bought Rendcomb Park Estate in 1863, demolishing the 17th century house and had a new one built, designed by Philip Charles Hardwick and constructed by Thomas Cubitt.
