A rare view of Jerusalem, from outside the city walls. It is possible the artist was a relative of John Nicolayson (anglicised from Hans Nicolajsen, 1803-56), a Danish missionary to Palestine for the 'London Society for Promoting Christianity Among the Jews', founder of Christ Church, Jerusalem, consecrated 1849. Not in Abbey.
