A portrait of French military leader Jean Moreau (1763-1816). Moreau helped Napoleon to power but was then banished to America in 1804. He returned to Europe in 1813 after the fall of the Grand Armée in Russia and joined the allies, working with Tsar Alexander I. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Dresden in 1813 while standing at the side of the Tsar.
