A classical scene showing Ulysses discovering the young Achilles hidden amongst the women. Ulysses is sent to find Achilles as a prophecy stated that Troy will not fall without him, however Achilles' mother, discovering that he would die should he go to war, hid him amongst the women of the house by dressing him as a girl. The scene shows Achilles betraying himself by being the only 'girl' to be interested in the weapons concealed amongst the gifts presented to the group by Ulysses.

Lebrun, engraved by various artists from 1777 to 1790 (or 1791), and published in 3 volumes, in 1792 and 1794. The plates were issued in series of twelve. From the Airlie collection, Cortachy Castle.

A caprice with an allegorical tomb of the Earl of Godolphin, with people in classical costume performing a sacrifice under a ruined triumphal arch. Behind is a Romanised pyramid, probably based on Rome's tomb of Cestius. From ''Tombeaux des princes et des grands capitaines et autres hommes illustres qui ont fleuri dans la Grande Bretagne vers la fin du XVIIe et le commencement du XVIIIe'', first published in 1741 by theatre manager and art dealer Owen Swiny (1676-1754). Although Swiny planned the series to be 25 plates, only nine were issued. When Swiny died his estate was left in trust for actress Margaret (Peg) Woffington; his collection of paintings were sold in 1755, when presumably Boydell bought the plates of this series.

A massive fireworks display outside the Episcopal Palace, Strasbourg, with spectators lining the river. In 1744 Louis XIV travelled to Germany to join his army fighting the War of the Austrian Succession. He fell ill, so gravely that his chaplain could blackmail Louis into giving up his mistress before receiving absolution. When he recovered a five-day party was held, with the events recorded in 'Représentation des fêtes données par la ville de Strasbourg pour la convalescence du roi, à l'arrivée et pendant le séjour de Sa Majesté en cette ville', with this being plate 5 of 11.
