General Major Baird hatte seine Macht in zwey Divisionen abgetheilt, die eine unter dem Comand der Obertsn Sherbrooke...Wiederstands erfochten beede Divisionen den vollkomensten Sieg. The Assault and Taking of Seringapatam on the 4.th of May 1799. Major General Baird having devided his force into two divisions, one under the command of Colonel Sherbrooke and the other of Colonel Dunlop, the troops ascended the breach under a heavy fire, when the latter officer was severely wounded, but though vigrrously opposed, loth divisions, were completely successful. Dedicated by Permission To His most Gracious Majesty George III King of the United Kingdoms of Great Britain & Ireland, &c.&c.&c. By His Majesty's most dutiful servants. Anth.y Cardon & N.& S. Schiavonetti.

The Battle of Seringapatam was the final battle of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Mysore; which came to an end with the defeat and death of Tippu Sultan. It was a decisive British victory after breaching the walls of the fortress and storming the citadel. The British restored the Wodeyar dynasty to the throne after the victory, but retained indirect control of the kingdom.

Der verwundete Sultan hatte sich under das Thor de inern Forts zuruck gezo=gen, hier...Muskete durch den Kopf, und der Sultan stirbt in dem nemlichen Augenblick. The Last Effort and Fall of Tippo Sultaun. The wounded Sultaun retired under the gateway of the inner fort, his Horse having sunk under him, his people raised him up & placed him on his Palankeen, from which, on the appearance of some European Soldiers, he with difficulty removed himself grasped his sword & tho nearly exhausted from loss of blood, wounded one of them above the knee who attempted to seize his sword belt, and who shot the Sultaun thro the head when he instantly expired.
