The Gatehouse, the entrance to Lincoln's Inn from Chancery Lane is the oldest existing part of the Inn, built between 1518 and 1521. The arms above the arch are those of Sir Thomas Lovell (the Treasurer at the time of construction), the Earl of Lincoln and Henry VIII.
