The Oldenburg Procession Through Oxford. May 1814.

Satire on the visit of Grand Duchess Catherine Pavlovna of Russia (1788 - 1819), daughter of Tsar Paul I of Russia, widow of Peter Friedrich Georg I, Duke of Oldenburg and from 1816 Queen of Württemberg. During her visit, degrees were presented to the Allied sovereigns. She wears an 'Oldenburgh Bonnet', and is followed by two squat women, named underneath as Madams Aladensky & Volchousky, and Prince Gagarin. BM: 12820, "evidently by an amateur".
