A portrait of Ann Harrison (1625-1680), from a sketch based on an oil by Cornelis Janssens van Ceulen, now in the Valence House Museum. In 1644 she married Richard Fanshawe, her second cousin, a Royalist who later helped broker Charles II's marriage to Catherine of Braganza. A book on household economy compiled by Ann in 1665 contains the earliest known European recipe for ice cream.
