Portrait after van Dyck, variously suggested to represent Rubens' second wife Hélène Fourment (as here, subsequently crossed out), van Dyck's own wife Mary Ruthven, and Mary, Princess of Orange. Etched by French artist Louis Elle (1612-89), who often signed his name 'L. Ferdinand' in deference to his father, Ferdinand Elle.
