King Charles I (1600-1649), King of England, Scotland and Ireland; executed in 1649. This portrait was in the collection formed by Robert Walpole at Houghton in Norfolk. John Boydell published a large collection of engravings from pictures in the collection at around the time the collection was bought by Catherine the Great. Most of the pictures can still be seen at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
