Henry Thurstan Holland [1825-1914], Conservative Secretary of State for the Colonies from 1887-92. He granted the charter for Cecil Rhodes's 'British South Africa Company' in 1887. He became Viscount Knutsford in 1895.

Edward Stanhope (1840-1893), Conservative MP for Mid Lincolnshire 1874-85, then Horncastle until his death. He served as President of the Board of Trade (1885-6), Secretary of State for the Colonies (1886-7) and Secretary of State for War (1887-92). In 1861 he played three first-class cricket matches for Kent. Cricket interest.
