John James Heidegger (1666-1749) was a Swiss count and leading impresario of masquerades. From 1710, he was part of a new commercial public entertainment, which promoted masquerade balls at the Haymarket Theatre. In 1729 Handel and Heidegger were permitted to produce operas at the King's Theatre by the Royal Academy of London. CS: 184, i of ii.

Three-quarter length seated portrait of English courtier and political writer John Hervey, 2nd Baron Hervey of Ickworth (1696-1743). He has a chancerial burse propped on right leg and holds the tassells between his hands. He wears a coat lined with fur and a chin-length wig. CS 188.I State before price and address erased.

Tents and windmills in the distance. In distinctive decorative border, from George Henry Millar's 'The new and universal System of Geography, being a complete history and description of the whole world. ...' 1782.

A full length portrait of Robert Walpole (1676-1745) who dominated Parliament as de facto Prime Minister between 1721 and 1742. This portrait was published as frontispiece to Volume II of Boydell's series of prints of Walpole's art collection at Houghton, engraved after the collection was sold by the 3rd Earl in 1779, including 206 sold to Catherine the Great of Russia to decorate her Hermitage palace.
