William of Orange after landing at Torbay on the south coast of England. After landing unopposed on 15 November 1688, William quickly travelled to Exeter where he set up a command centre and a printing press. This was the beginning of the Glorious Revolution which led to William becoming William III of England, Scotland and Ireland, deposing James II.
