A three-quater length portrait of Bishop Thomas Wilson (1663-1755) who served as Bishop of Sodor and Man for over 50 years, he was so popular as Bishop that on his death nearly the whole adult population of the Isle of Man went to the funeral. Wilson is shown sitting in a large chair holding a map of the Isle of Man.
