Stipple printed in colour, very decorative and rare, sheet 350 x 385mm (13½ x 15"). Trimmed inside the plate mark at base and on the plate mark right, left and top.
Stipple by the designer, engraver and publisher of prints J. Peirson (fl.1798-1805), the printmaker's name spelt 'Pierson' in this instance. See Peirson's 1798 'Thursday or the Spell' for a print with the more common spelling, published by Le Petit on Suffolk Street, from which the publication line given for this print is derived.

Hobnelia, a young woman, uses the garter of Lubberkin, a shepherd asleep beneath a tree, to cast a love spell. 'Shepherd's Week' was a series of six pastorals by John Gay, published 1714.
