This house was demolished in 1778 and replaced by another, which was itself replaced in 1890 by the mansion by Richard Norman Shaw which now houses the major Public School. Reduced version of the large view engraved by Johannes Kip. Previously part of the collection of Hamburg-based book and print collector Robert Johannes Meyer (1882-1976), whose collection focused on northern European printmakers of the 16th-18th centuries. A bird's eye view of the Royal Hospital at Chelsea, with the river in the foreground and the formal gardens between the river and the hospital. The Westbourne can be seen entering the Thames. This is an early example, before the addition of Joseph Smith's publication line in 1724. The hospital was founded by King Charles II in 1682, however Sir Stephen Fox (1627-1716), to whom this print is dedicated, was the inspiration for its foundation. Fox was a royal administrator and courtier to Charles II and a politician who rose from humble origins, so much so that he became known as 'the richest commoner in the three kingdoms'.

An elevated view of Uppark, a 17th-century house and gardens in South Harting in West Sussex. The house, set high on the South Downs, was built for Ford Grey (1605-1701), the first Earl of Tankerville, c.1690, and was sold in 1747 to Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh. It came to the National Trust in 1954. With some imagination, Knyff's view includes shipping in the English Channel.
