Kirchner (1876-1917) was an Austrian painter in the Art Nouveau style, famed for his influence on the 'pin-up' magazine and postcard industry, naked woman in a clam shell, waving a French flag. Born in Vienna, he moved to Paris in 1900 and to New York on the outbreak of the First World War. In 1915 Robert Boss of the Bruton Galleries commissioned paintings from him, reproduced like this.

A folio full of loose plates of young women in various states of undress by Raphael Kirchner. Although the title label calls for 16 prints there are twenty different images present, in the same format, all by Kirchner. Kirchner (1876-1917) was an Austrian painter in the Art Nouveau style, famed for his influence on the 'pin-up' magazine and postcard industry. Born in Vienna, he moved to Paris in 1900 and to New York on the outbreak of the First World War, where he died.
