S. Holaen, del et lith. [n.d., c.1840.] Very rare lithograph. Sheet 220 x 140mm (8¾ x 5¼"). Time stained. Mounted on album paper. Two illustrations of the infamous 'Scold's Bridle, one showing the design, the other showing it in use. The first recorded use was in Scotland in 1567, the last in Bolton-le-Moors, Lancashire, as late as 1856.
