Book, 4to (280 x 220mm, 11 x 8¾"), first edition. Contemporary half morocco gilt over brown cloth boards, gilt lettered spine. With a coloured lithographic frontispiece illustrating Act I on india paper by Templeton after the author's design. Also dedication to Princess Victoria, Preface and cast list, pp.55, complete. Binding scuffed and rubbed, spine chipped at top. First four leaves slightly foxed, remainder ok.
Lady Elizabeth Scot Yorke (nee Lindsay) (1763 - 1858) married Philip Yorke, 3rd Earl of Hardwicke in 1782 to become Countess of Hardwicke. This play was written before 1800 by the Countess for her children. Printed in aid of the "distressed Irish".
