Published by S.S. Folker, 3 Bridge St. Wesminster [sic], April 1835. Lithograph with letterpress, scarce, sheet 440 x 550mm (17¼ x 21½"). Creases. The fire which burnt down the Palace of Westminster in 1834 was caused by the burning of tally sticks which had been used in the accounting procedures of the Exchequer. This print, published the year after the fire, depicts these tallies, now objects 'of considerable interest', with an extensive account of their history and usage.
