The Imperial Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre, built in 1783 by Antonio Rinaldi as an opera house and home to the Imperial Ballet until 1886, when it was declared unsafe. From a series of plates published in Russia by Daziaro, a French publisher who seems to have set up shop in Russia temporararily. The Saint Petersburg Conservatory was built on the site, retaining the theatre's grand staircase and landing. From a series of plates published in Russia by Daziaro, a French publisher who moved his business to Russia temporarily.
