A scene on the cliffs of England's 'Jurassic Coastline' after a landslip on Christmas Day 1839, taking with it a number of cottages and an orchard. It was the first major landslip to be recorded scientifically and is known today as the 'Undercliff'.

Completed in 1805 the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct carries the Llangollen Canal over the valley of the River Dee in Wrexham in north east Wales. Canals were the arteries of the Industrial Revolution and the engineering team of Thomas Telford and William Jessop were the most experienced canal and bridge builders of their time.

A bluff smuggler gives a weedy man a sample from his cask. The 'National Gallery of Practical Science, Blending Instruction with Amusement' contained some 250 machines, devices and models such as a pocket thermometer, a gas mask, an oxyhydrogen microscope, a steam gun and, later, demonstrations of daguerreotypes, electricity and magnetism. It was situated in the Lowther Arcade, a glass-domed arcade near the Strand in London's West End until the 1840s, now the site of Coutts' Bank.

A fine & scarce series of views of the environs of Windsor Castle, all but one by James Baker Pyne (1800-70). The frontispiece, an interior of St George's Chapel, was drawn and lithographed by Joseph Nash (1809-78).
