He served at Bunker Hill in America 1775, in West Indies 1776-81, 1783-6, 1790-1; took part in Glorious First of June 1794, Cape St. Vincent 1797, blockade of Cadiz 1797-8 and of Brest 1799-1805; off Cadiz in 1805; took command on Nelson's death at Trafalgar 1805; died at sea; buried in St. Paul's.
