A rare illustration of a sixteenth century military theory, demonstrating trajectories for cannon and mortars. The parts of the camp are lettered for a key, not here. This is an illustration from Leonhard Fronsperger's 'Kriegsbuch' (Book of War), one of the most important military works of the sixteenth century. Fronsperger wrote from his own military experiences in the Holy League fighting the Turks in the 1560s. He died in a shooting accident.

A rare illustration of a sixteenth century military encampment, a rectangle with a barricade of wagons on all sides, a line of cannon defending the left. A second internal barricade protects larger ordnance. The camp is large, with dozens of tents of different sizes and as many supply wagons. The pennants flying outside the tents have various emblems, including the Hapsburg Eagle. At the centre of the camp is an occupied gallows. The parts of the camp are lettered for a key, not here.
