Charles Louis (1617-80), Elector Palatine. He was the second son of Frederick V, the 'Winter King' of Bohemia, and his wife Elizabeth of England. As an exile he spent much time in England attempted to get his uncle Charles I's support to retake his possessions. Unlike his younger brother Rupert, he had Parliamentarian sympathies and was accused by Charles of angling for the English throne. However soon after Charles's execution in 1649 he returned to take possession of the Lower Palatinate, which had been restored to him by the Peace of Westphalia of 1648.
