Interior of the George Hotel in York, a coaching inn which from 1614 until 1869 (when it was demolished to make way for Leak & Thorp) served travellers on their way to Manchester, Hull and Newcastle. In 1849 Anne and Charlotte Bronte stayed there en route to Scarborough.
