Very rare lithograph, printed area 270 x 175mm (10½ x 7").
C.H. Simpson (b.1771), Master of Cermonies at Vauxhall Gardens, performing his famous greeting of raising his top hat while extending his right leg on tip-toe. This print was probably produced at the time of Simpson's benefit on 19 August 1833. On the bill Simpson published to accompany the benefit he claimed to have served with Admiral Rodney in the West Indies at the age of eleven!
