Naval scene showing Lord Howe, commander of the Queen Charlotte braking through the enemy's line in the battle between the British fleet, under the command of Lord Howe, and the French fleet which had sailed from Brest. At the end of the battle, though many French ships had got away, Howe had captured seven, though one of which, Le Vengeur, sank before their arrival at Spithead.
