Publish'd by F. Vivares 15th January 1756
Engraving, platemark 405 x 500mm (16 x 19¾"). Creased. Large margins.
Landscape after the Italian painter Francesco Zuccarelli (1702-88), who spent much of the 1750s and 1760s in England (he was a founder member of the Royal Academy). Engraved by Francis Vivares (1709-80), widely considered to be the best engraver of Claude Lorrain's landscapes. His engraving of paintings by Zuccarelli may have resulted from his acquaintance with the artist's Venetian publisher Joseph Wagner.
