The Tempest: landscape with approaching storm, shepherd hurrying his flock and a woman reaching to help up another woman. Originally published as one of a pair (with The Calm) after the Italian landscape painter Francesco Zuccarelli (1702-88), who spent much of the 1750s and 1760s in England (he was a founder member of the Royal Academy). Like many engravings of the period, this was a collaboration between two printmakers: one specialising in landscape (William Byrne) and another specialising in figure engraving (Francesco Bartolozzi).
