The Virgin Mary, seated, turned to the left, suckling the infant Jesus, and covering him with a cloth as he sits on her lap. Within an oval with a crest below the image. From the series 'The Most Capital Paintings in England', Boydell's first major initiative as a pioneering publisher of fine engravings.
