Frederick Augustus I or Augustus II the Strong (1670 – 1733), Elector of Saxony (as Frederick Augustus I) and King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (as Augustus II). One of several large equestrian mezzotints by Augsburg-based artist Georg Philipp Rugendas I (1666-1742), whose portraits and genre scenes were much sought-after for the decoration of palaces and large houses.
