Account of the history of Dence's School, Cranbrook. Alexander Dence established it in the 15th century as the first charity school. The Church House in which it operated for over 300 years still stands. This copy was sent to by the author William Tarbutt to an acquaintance, as the attached letter shows. Tarbutt notes that 'more than 300 copies have been sold in the Parish. It is of most interest here, there are a features in it of general interest'.
