Etching with hand-colouring, sheet 160 x 225mm (6¼ x 8½"). Trimmed inside platemark and glued to backing card with hand-drawn border. Cut down from original sheet with another caricature on same page.
Scene in a Parisian restaurant. Mme Véry was listed in an 1818 guidebook as one of the foremost 'restaurateurs' in Paris. Satirical etching by Thomas Rowlandson (1757-1827), whose name is now 'synonymous with the popular vision of late Georgian Britain' (DNB).
