Photogravure. Platemark: 280 x 210mm (11 x 8¼").
A portrait of Joseph Joachim (1831 - 1907), a Hungarian violinist, conductor, composer and teacher. A close collaborator of Johannes Brahms, he is widely regarded as one of the most significant violinists of the 19th century. Maclure, Macdonald & Co. were, in Victorian times, 'Ornamental Printers to the Queen'. They invented a power-driven lithographic printing press in 1853.
