A view of Cardoness Castle among trees at the left, with figures loading hay onto a horse-drawn wagon in the field at the front, seen from the opposite bank of the Fleet estuary. Two figures are rowing a small boat near a sailing boat at the centre of the image. From William Daniell's 'A Voyage Round Great Britain', a series of 308 aquatints published in eight volumes between 1814-1825, described by R.V. Tooley as 'the most important colour plate book on British Topography'.
