Double portrait of Napoleon, taken from a montage of five heads drawn by Anne-Louis Girodet (1767-1824) during a mass at the Palais de Saint-Cloud in 1812. Girodet was closely associated with the emperor: also in 1812 he was commissioned to paint 36 portraits of Napoleon in his coronation robes for the Imperial Courts, 26 of which he had completed by Napoleon's abdication in 1814.
