An allegory of the death of Napoléon François Charles Joseph Bonaparte (1811-32), better known as Napolon II, with him being greeted by his father on a cloud. A falling crown and sword signify the end of the Imperial line. As the son of Archduchess Marie Louise he left France for Austria in 1814. He joined the Austrian Army aged twelve and was allowed no political role before his death of tuberculosis aged 21.
