Amateur lithograph of a tombstone in the church at Hordle, Hampshire, probably made by Mary Anne Theresa Whitby (1784-1850) around the time the old church was demolished in 1830. Following her husband's death, Whitby spent much of her time with naval officer Sir William Cornwallis, who left his Hampshire estate.of Newlands to her on his death in 1819. Whitby was an amateur lithographer who established a private press at Newlands, located near to Hordle.
