A portrait of Major Francis Pierson (1757 – 1781), head and shoulders, directed to the right, within an oval. Pierson was a British Army officer who served during the American War of Independence. He was killed in the Battle of Jersey, the last battle on British soil. This portrait is unusual as it is printed on both the recto and verso of the sheet.
