Hill Fort of Vesshallgheen. Vesshallgheen in the dustance.
Published by A. Friedel, 24, Greek Street, Soho, London.
Lithograph on india. Printed area 205 x 250mm (8 x 9¾").
A camel train at rest. From 'Eight Most Splendid Views of India, sketched by an Officer in the Indian Army', showing hill forts in forts situated in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, western India. Although Baron Adam Friedel is sometimes quoted as the artist as well as the publisher, it is unlikely that he served as a soldier in India; he was already a successful publisher, particularly of portraits of the leaders of the Greek revolution.
