A scene from 'Patient Griselda', one of the stories in Boccaccio's Decameron. Here Gualtiero, King of Sicily, meets the poor shepherdess, Griselda, who he had married years before but had been forced to exile. The story has also been made into an opera by Alessandro Scarlatti (1721) and Antonio Vivaldi (1735)
