A view looking from Bournabashi Hill across the Plains of Troy towards Tenedos, published in Sir William Gell's 'Topography of Troy'. The hill is the site of 'Old' Troy. Byron wrote a couplet about Gell: 'Of Dardan tours let Dilettanti tell, / I leave topography to to classic Gell'. After visiting the area and learning that Gell had sketched the region in three days, Byron changed the second line to 'rapid Gell'.
