Christian Frederick Zincke (1684?-1767), miniature painter born in Dresden but arriving in London c.1706. This double portrait shows him with his first wife Elizabeth, who he married at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London in 1718. Zincke had a successful career, benefitting from his relationships with George II and Frederick, Prince of Wales. Many of his works are in the Royal Collection, V & A Museum, Ashmolean Museum and other major collections.
