Interior view of the stage of Sadlers Wells Theatre as seen from the back of the theatre. A large audience watches what could be an aqua drama, a specialty of Sadlers Wells Theatre. The theatre's proximity to the New River provided the necessary water to fill a special tank which provided the setting for several nautical performances such as 'The Seige of Gibraltar' staged in 1804.
