Subject from Tasso's 'La Gerusalemme liberata' (Jerusalem delivered) in which the Saracen princess Erminia cuts off her hair to bind the wounds of the injured Christian warrior Tancred. This subject had previously been depicted by Nicolas Poussin, and French 18th century painter Simone Vouet is attributed as the source for this Italian lithograph.
