A picturesque view of Lancaster Castle, seen from the opposite bank of the river Lune. Two men can be seen pushing a boat into the water in foreground at left, and two others behind. Boats and ship are on the river, with hills in the distance Plate 41 from Daniell's 'Voyage Round Great Britain', 1814-1825. William Daniell's 'A Voyage Round Great Britain' was the most ambitious of the many topographical publications produced in England during the early nineteenth century and its plates are a highpoint in the history of aquatint engraving.
