The Kangxi Emperor (1654-1722, emperor from 1661), was one of the most successful of the Chinese rulers, bringing a period of stability after years of civil war. By the end of his reign he controlled all of China proper, Taiwan, Manchuria, both Inner and Outer Mongolia, and Tibet proper.
